Nixon Library

In preparation for an upcoming field trip, I was talking to the kids about the Nixon Library that we will be visiting on Monday. So, I’m telling them about the field trip and that we will go to the President’s Library. I tell them that he was a president before I was born and that he left because he was asked to leave because he did some naughty things. Since I’m explaining to a 6 and 4 year old, they still think I’m talking about the Library and say, “Why did they ask him to leave? Did he scribble in the books, rip pages or talk loud?” As I’m trying not to laugh, I’m thinking to myself I must not be a very effective communicator. I tell them he didn’t do any of those things but he was a naughty president and they asked him to stop being president. It’s hard to explain the Watergate scandal to them, but I did my best.
